I am inclined to want the links tell the story. This is all good and it gets better at the end. I will add my two cents at the end! First, under Bush in the middle east there were two voices! General Powell was the voice of moderation that truly wanted equality and peace. When he went to the middle east and tried to repair damage in the middle east particularly between Palestine and Israel Powell knew he was out on a limb. Cheney would then go to work and cut the roots to that limb out from underneath him. No one at all knew where they stood or where we stood.

Ahmadinejad now 34% ahead and declaring a landslide victory. This is getting confusing I just heard that both sides are claiming victory so hold on. Iran election rivals both declare victory. Riot police are dispersing crowds of Mousavi supporters wjo said Mousavi should have won hands down and I agree! Cheating and fraud is the accusation says this will be to the detriment of Iran. Mousavi is also saying he should have had a landslide victory and this election will be contested!

Anyway you look at it I believe Obama has made the difference as Ahmadinejad had his platform cut from underneath him and his people have spoken. His hard line will have to change but once again the citizens are going to have to get involved and speak out as they have during this election. With no one watching the election I am very suspicious that something underhanded was done by Ahmadinejad, Mousavi to me had overwhelming support!

President Obama's speech in Cairo we hoped changed the course of Bush's mess and I for one am extremely pleased to see that it has. The middle east appears to be coming back together one country at a time. I am excited for Iran's election. I have been watching it closely. After the Hamas win in Lebanon a loss for Ahmadinejad definitely means running as the enemy of America is no longer a winning message. I now believe the middle east will heal itself of Bush's damage and have hopes the world will follow. Check this out!

I believe the middle east is coming back together one country at a time as a result of hearing in Cairo the we have a unifying leader not a divide and conquer Decider. Millions of Iranian's went to the polls yesterday. Like us they too had an obvious choice of which path to follow into the future.

There were others running but in the front they could either vote for the anti American policies of the past represented by Ahmadinejad or they could vote for peace unity and the understanding that all all countries are equal espoused by Mousavi. Women also deserve equality and there is room for all countries, also espoused by Mousavi. The abrasive politics of hate and division are over. Citizens of the middle east and the US want to give peace a chance! The US has chosen Obama, Lebanon has Chosen Hamas, and now Iran "I hope" has chosen Mousavi and a better relationship with the US!

The enthusiasm in Iran was palpable you could have cut it with a knife. This election is significant. The turnout was phenomenal with a large turnout of Women and young voters. This is significant as half of Iran's population is under 25. Iran wants something different too. They want a successful peaceful future.

They too are not frozen in time. They want to move forward in a new direction with the world. I love it! Mousavi wants to end Iranian isolation and I see that happening. Khamenei being the Religious leader is ultimately the final word in Iran. However I believe Mousavi and Khamenei are on the same page. Together they can bring Iran back into the fold. *In closing, I am excited and I just heard Obama say the same thing at the White House. Poll times were extended twice, That in itself is extraordinary. Iranian's are demanding change. They want a better relationship with America. Here too hope and a vision for the future is the driving force behind the election. This can not be ignored. I am excited for the entire world as I too see hope for the future. Oh yeah! One last important thing. Rumor has it that Pakistan is closing in on Bin Laden in Waziristan. I understand the CIA while not officially there are also helping. What if Obama captures Bin Laden? Wow what a coupe de grace!

Republicans never fail to stupefy me. First I have to ask, Did anyone notice that the west just scored their first victory in the middle east? As far as I am concerned it is in direct response to Obama's well received speech in Cairo. The war instigator Bush compelled the Lebanese to vote for Iran aligned Hezbollah to lead them.We now have a peace President who genuinely wants Peace in the middle east not his way but their way. The Lebanese just voted in Hamas to lead them. I for one am psyched and have to hope the same happens in Iran next week and hard liner Ahmadinejad is voted out as looks to be the case right now.

Knowing how the entire world was floored with the beauty of Obama's speech in Cairo with the exception of Republicans and other terrorists as I wrote the other day. I was immensely impressed with Obama's humility and expression of Love for America while expressing to the world as he should have that he was a citizen of the world. That was beautiful and the entire world believes the same thing. We can lead if they want to be led but we are no better than anyone else.

I was stunned to hear Gingrich stupid enough to say to an audience of so called conservative supporters that he was an American and not a citizen of the world. That absolutely blew me away. In you immediate family you are a member of the entire family whether you agree with them or not. You can pick your friends but you can not pick your family as the saying went. Gingrich said he would never be a citizen of North Korea or Venezuela. Neither would I but like it or not they are still part of the world family and we must somehow get along.

Gingrich is definitely not the one to lead the Republicans out of the "wilderness" He would only lead them further into the wilderness. I heard this funny line yesterday and it is dead on. "Gingrich has more baggage than Samsonite" That Partisan mindless idiot said we would be amazingly better off if McCain and Palin got elected. Palin? I mean come on. Have some respect for yourself.

The public was polled yesterday to find out who they thought spoke for the GOP. 52% of the public did not know. Sounds like success to me. The rest were divvied up in small numbers between Cheney, Gingrich, Limbaugh, and McCain with 1% saying GW. They have not reinvented themselves. They are not the big tent party. They are still the pup tent party. The party of angry old white men they did not want to become.

It is still worse, again I am stunned! Republicans are asking for your help! This stupefies me. Don't those fools understand Chrysler was just sold to Italy more pointedly Fiat? Hummer a part of GM was just sold to China with no guarantee that the plants would be in America after 2010? 789 Chrysler dealerships have been forced to close? Those fools want you to only buy foreign cars to make Obama fail. Those asses are safe. They do not care what this would mean to you. If GM was forced into Bankruptcy the American people would lose their money. Hundreds of thousands of people would lose their jobs thus their lifestyle's leading more foreclosures. The future of America is stake here. I am increasingly angry as I see how much Bush ignored the average American and our America while instigating war we could not afford around the world. We can not sustain our current course. It is unsustainable as Obama says and it damn sure is. Rising costs are leading an increasing number to catastrophe. We cannot fend off this run away train any longer. Can Health Overhaul Heal the Economy?

Everyone involved with the health care industry at least say they are on board. They have pledged $2 trillion in cuts over the next ten years. I have my doubts. We must have lower costs, improved quality, and consumer choice while providing while providing better care without increasing our Debt. That too I would like to see but any way you look at it, it is critical to our future that we do it and do it now.

62% of all foreclosures are due to sickness and rampant medical costs. 92% of those were due to what is called "the under insured".With 42 million in this country with no insurance whatsoever and more than 1 million foreclosures by year end 2008 I understand why Obama gave Congress 6 to 7 weeks to come up with a workable plan. Can they do it? If you read the prior link you know they can.

With an estimated $1 trillion cost for 10 years for the new health care plan it sounds prohibitive. However think about the prohibitive cost to the country of not doing this! Unemployment is now at a record 9.8%. More than 6 million have lost their jobs since the down turn began in 2007. There have been more than 1 million home foreclosures by year end 2008 and with 325,000 last month the lowest in years there is no end in sight. The situation is dire. The time to do this is now!

To make health care succeed we need the Jewish community behind us. Obama had a great speech while in Egypt. However it is going to be tough to get Israel and the Jewish community behind this plan after the tough speech he gave in Cairo and to get a health care plan that a rapidly growing number of our population needs. This going to get much worse not better.

In Closing knowing how critical this is why are we letting Republicans hold affordable Health care hostage? Fixing health care is the most important part of fixing the economy according to Obama and I totally agree. It is the plan that is in question. Will a public plan work (Government financed) ? Single payer is off the table but it is the only option for many. I knew that in the past China has been if not helping North Korea mess with us and the rest of the world they were turning a blind eye. Since this began I kept saying that China can not do that this time and must take an active roll because if this does end up as a Military confrontation between North and South Korea they are in a lose, lose situation.

China is our Banker as well as North Korea's immediate neighbor. They hold more than 2 trillion dollars in our Bonds.They have more at stake here than anyone. Maybe more than both Korea's. Stakes are now enormous! China has to be a key partner in whatever happens here. We can not do this unilaterally.

China does not seem to have the leverage they use to or I thought they had. They do have an abstract leverage! They should want to be key players here. They are our banker and we owe them trillions. Being North Korea's immediate neighbor they would be the recipient of hundreds of thousands of refugees if not more. Regardless of the past that is gone. We have to be concerned with the future now.

* With our economic problems and North Korea's antics China is very much in the balance. Believe it or not it more than appears a little suspicious as far as Lee and Ling's capture go. No one mentions the fact that those two reporters were escorted from China by a Government guide and a linguist. You can not convince me they did not know where the border was or that they were in North Korean territory.

* They were set up! It is no coincidence that the two Chinese got away "back over the border" "we don't even know was crossed and never will while the two Americans conveniently fell into North Korean hands to be used as bargaining chips. I really am stunned that those two reporters went anywhere beyond an obvious border point. They only had to show the border and nothing else. I do not believe anything involving their capture. There have been missile threats from both Korea's. It is not the missiles that would concern me. One way or the other boarding North Korea's ships will get this going. It is not North Korea's navy I would be worried about. It is the 7 million man army heading south that should be the big concern. That and our definite involvement should be China's big concern and her motivation to stop playing games and make sure that this is put to an end!

The world can be proud of Pakistan's civilian militia taking on the Taliban! An example many must follow to survive!

As we have discussed in the past, the US and Afghan army are succeeding in their efforts to contain the so called Taliban and the insurgency along the border. Meanwhile Pakistan has done a hell of a job squeezing them from their side. Of course at one time the concern was that insurgents from around the world were gathering in Pakistan to gather train and arm to cross the border and fight the US and Nato in Afghanistan.

Not due to our success in Afghanistan but because of Pakistan's success in cleaning up the Swat valley the Taliban were now leaving Afghanistan to head into Pakistan to help their Brother insurgents. That is a good sign of something that has not been mentioned. This is a sign that we are making headway. It is not a bad thing that the Taliban are going into Pakistan primarily because they realize they are up against it and are getting desperate.

The pincer move with the cooperation of Pakistan is working. The Taliban is getting desperate now in Pakistan and are now bring the fight to the bigger cities telling civilians they better abandon them. Batullah Masoud is said to have hundreds of martyrs with suicide belts ready when needed. Recently some of the insurgents killed in a firefight were wearing suicide vests and blew themselves up so I tend to believe this. Batullah must be killed and that will greatly quell the problem in Pakistan.

However this is just beginning! The added US troops have not caused insurgents to head to Pakistan as Pakistan thinks. Their success has brought them there. I believe they are up to the task of dealing with them. Whether it is done in Pakistan or Afghanistan does not matter. It has to be done period. I do not like that the Taliban are doing the Iraq thing and targeting civilian areas. We have seen it before.

Civilians are going to have to join this too. They have the power to nullify Al Qaeda and the Taliban! This is a guerilla war. Armies can do their fighting and win battles but to put this to an end it is going to take an all out concerted effort involving the entire population. Success is in their hands and will not come without them. Like Iraqi citizens those in Pakistan and Afghanistan must be mad to realize the so called insurgents want to kill them. They want to end their life, life as they know it.

At one point I thought this was going to go on for generations and I still think it will like it or not. However I do believe civilians in Pakistan and Afghanistan will have their life as they want it if they get involved and fight for it. Eternal Vigilance! Man they are coming through!

I almost have to laugh! The Taliban had me convinced they were indestructible but Pakistan really has them disoriented and making mistakes as they endeavor to even the score for their defeat in Waziristan once their safe haven along with the Swat valley. We knew the civilian population was going to have to get involved as they were the obvious targets and increasingly so. The civilians have had enough! The Taliban attack on a mosque the other day that killed some 30 innocent civilians was the final straw.

Nearly 400 Residents have banded together and are taking on and cleaning out the Taliban themselves. The armed group then attacked five villages in the nearby Dhok Darra area where the Taliban is suspected of having bases destroying 20 houses suspected of housing Taliban fighters. I remember the complaints of residents when the military was destroying homes but now they and I can see it is a necessary evil. I am so proud of them and I wish Afghanistan for one would follow their example. We can all do it. Obama is right, we can do this. We must all band together as equals and do our share. I'm telling you, knowing how all powerful and totally controlling the Taliban was, women having to cover their face, no education, and men could not shave this is a big thing! There were some 100 barbers in Mingora and they were ordered to close down when the Taliban came. Those barbers are now the lucky ones. They are some of the few who can find work in the refugee camps for the displaced. Wow, guys must feel clean and free to do what they want. One small sign of freedom. Keep going brothers!

While Obama was in Normandy commending our past his plan for our future was unveiled: Obama's health care plan!

As you know, it has only been three days since Obama made his first of a kind speech explaining to Islam and the world that we were their friends their equals. We were all seeking respect and humanity while fighting those who want to take it from us all. The next day he was in Germany explaining the same while also visiting Buchenwald a notorious Nazi death camp.

Yesterday he was in France where he commemorated allied troops for their courage and bravery in an allied effort that began by storming the beaches In Normandy France. While there commemorating our soldiers bravery in the past his Health care plan you will see as critical to America's future as we know it.

While he was in Normandy speaking on the Anniversary of D Day his plan at home for a comprehensive health care plan was being unveiled. As a misadministration Bush routinely said one thing in private and another in public. Obama had to change that and he did! Obama reassured the middle east we would now speak and act as one voice. What was said in private would be what they heard in public. They would be treated as an equal with respect and know where they stood. Peace justice and equality was now in their hands! Not in the hands of extremists, not in the hands of terrorists Republicans or their own.

The middle east generally liked what they heard as did the rest of the world. However the middle east rightly says now it is time to stop talking the talk and walk the walk. Let's see some action now! Israel now knows they can no longer be the bully. No more settlements! They are no longer the prodigal favorite son in the middle east. The middle east now has a shot with Obama as the honest broker! Their is now a chance for equal rights with mutual respect and respected boundaries.

Everyone was generally positive except for those in the Middle east seen as extremists, terrorists, or the Republicans. The Gauntlet has been thrown down in the middle east by Obama and I believe they will pick it up and repair the mess Republicans under Bush created for their new middle east order and Republicans are peeved.

Democratic Congressman D. Kieth Ellison a Muslim from Minnesota is the Congressman is the Congressman Obama was talking about when he said he was sworn in on Thomas Jefferson's Holy Koran. He was quite impressed with Obama's speech both as a Muslim American. He believes Muslims in the middle east and around the world felt the love and respect and will respond accordingly.

The Republican response as expected was unfavorable, a lie, and way off the mark. Cheney's daughter instantly came out against it. Without even thinking she said Obama never once mentioned Democracy. She obviously did not listen to the speech because I heard it 4 times and believe it was number 4 of Obama's 6 points. Those people sicken me!

Boehner said it was irresponsible to say Israel and Palestine shared equal responsibility for peace. In response to Obama's speech that ass Limbaugh said Obama is beating Al Qaeda in destroying America. He said if Al Qaeda wants to destroy America they better hurry up because Obama is beating them. That is a slam against our President and our military indeed against all of us that know he is doing the right thing. Like the middle east we too have been waiting for years for our shining night to lead us out of the dark abyss Bush has led us down.

The middle east us and the entire world have hope now. This was not an apology tour as billed by Republicans. Obama knows equality is the way forward. While making the middle east feel good and meaning it he at the same time said he would defend us against anybody and anything. This speech was a big deal! He was respectful and understanding but gave no ground. It was powerful when he said in America Blacks got peace and equality without violence and you can too. I did my damnedest to find a story I wrote about this a few years back . North Korea concerns me and I am afraid I do not trust Iran's true intentions. I know the standard line is thy just want nuclear power for energy and it is there right. That is there right. It is other intentions I am concerned with and whether or not those that want peaceful use have control over clandestine weapon development.

Plus in the past a desire to spread nuclear knowledge to all Muslim Nations concerns me. Anyway I found out the truth a while back after all the saber rattling by Bush and Cheney that Iran did not need nuclear power but were attempting to build nuclear weapons to use on us and Israel. I found out that Iran really did need nuclear power. They were running out of oil. Iran Needs Nuclear because it's Running Out of Oil

Iran and Saudi Arabia are both running out of oil and estimates are that they could be out in 10 years. We know that is true. Anyway there are two reasons that Iran needs nuclear power. That is for energy and water. I knew desalination was the main source of water over there but I did not know how wide spread. Saudi Arabia already has 27 plants and needs more.

With the populations expected to grow exponentially in the future everywhere and even Japan and India need it for potable water. Nuclear power is here to stay and more Nations are going to need it. Who are we to say you make potable water and survive or not? About a month ago I remember what was it the G8? when Obama made overtures to Russia and Iran about stopping the Missile Defense System pleasing Russia and suggesting nuclear power for Iran was a possibility if Russia took responsibility of guaranteeing that it was for peaceful purposes only.

I am pretty pleased to see that Obama has obviously done his homework here too. Enough to say Iran's energy concerns are valid and obama recognized them in his speech. We have a chance!.

Cheney continues to say he wants all the torture memos released and they will vindicate him but the bastard is the one who had them sealed forever. He knows they can not be released as I keep saying so he says that just to appear righteous when he is a total liar.

General Sanchez rightly pointed out that their was no actionable intelligence gained from the so called enhanced interrogation techniques. As we pointed out in the past we know that is true because a CIA interrogator pointed out that information was gained but stopped as soon as torture was used. It really sickens me! Jimmy Carter was asked if he would want Cheney prosecuted for what he did. He said no and we know it will never happen but the scum should be in many regards. Full disclosure or the truth will never happen and it is naive for Carter to even call for it or think we will ever get it.

Cheney said Obama made a mistake saying he would close Gitmo and that it should remain in use keeping the terrorists off American soil and away from the Constitution and our laws. He fails to remind people that Bush was the first to propose closing Guantanamo and did so as early as 2006. Also while speaking at the Press club the lying scum said he would do everything all over again including attacking Iraq. He sickens me!

Finally while speaking at the press club the idiot smirking and using his sick form of humor said that we either have to keep the worse of the worse in Gitmo or kill them. He also lied when he said we don't do that though. I guarantee you they would already be dead if he had his way and he could do it. Anyway I can agree with that but I do believe our super max prison can and should be housing them as ex Republican Governor Bill Weld said. Weld by the way was our Ambassador to the Vatican and also voted for Obama.

Everything Cheney said about their being a long term major connection between Saddam and 9/11 was disproved and found to be a lie. Like the war mongering idiot he is Cheney simply dismissed it by saying it is not what Saddam did it is what he could have done.What? With that reasoning we can attack any country we feel inclined to. What the hell is that?

Cheney flat out bore false witness about Iraq and torture and should be investigated.Cheney continues to criticize Obama using his lies. Knowing Cheney is lying from beginning to end a panel did a fact check on him in regard to everything Iraq and about torture, him, Obama, and Bush, and the entire thing came up false. However that will not stop Cheney's lies nor his daughter defending them and torture.

Cheney's audacity and idiocy never stops. He actually blamed CIA Director George Tenet for our attacking Iraq. I want to scream! It was him. He was looking for an excuse to attack and found it. As I kept saying, it was not the intelligence it was the fools in charge of acting on it. They found the lies they needed by torturing and using known unreliable sources. Cheney tortured so he could say see there is a link and be able to attack Iraq.

You know we learned that if water boarded you would say anything to stop it and so didn't Cheney. He knew he would get his excuse to attack Iraq and he did. Getting even with Saddam was the excuse to attack Iraq and get back into the middle east to help Israel create a new middle east order. The lie we are living from that misadministration will never end.

* In closing, Cheney was the first along with Rummy the Dummy to blame everything on the CIA saying they were not being truthful. Now that Pelosi said the truth about them Cheney is all of a sudden their best friend. He does not want them to tell the truth about him and his quest for lies so he could attack Iraq. The lies just never stop. A few bad apples was not the problem Cheney was and he should be investigated!

Ponder North Korea! It is a small world after all!

North Korea, what does it mean and how do we respond? Will this be an arms race in South East Asia? A nuclear Japan? Will China get actively involved as they must? What is up with the little mad man? What is North Korea really thinking? Does what they are doing make sense? To a mad man! They are surrounded by American nuclear weapons.

Even China has warned North Korea off and that is what instigated Kim Song Il to set off the second more successful underground nuclear test. North Korea is right, there are double standard. There has to be in this case. This mad man would proliferate and use them. North Korea is incensed, they think they have been aggrieved. A sane man a responsible country would be aggrieved.

This mad man is deserved. China has a major problem and better get in front of this. China does not want North Korea attack as they would have to deal with the millions of refugees and neither do they want a unified Korea with the US on their Border. You may remember that during the Korean War General Macarthur wanted to continue through Korea and take China.

What would South East Asia be like today? What would we be like? China is our Banker as well as North Korea's immediate neighbor. They hold more than 2 trillion dollars in our Bonds.They have more at stake here than anyone. Maybe more than both Korea's. Stakes are now enormous! China has to be a key partner in whatever happens here. We can not do this unilaterally.

China does not seem to have the leverage they use to or I thought they had. They do have an abstract leverage! They should want to be key players here. They are our banker and we owe them trillions. Being North Korea's immediate neighbor they would be the recipient of hundreds of thousands of refugees if not more. Regardless of the past that is gone. We have to be concerned with the future now.

With our economic problems and North Korea's antics China is very much in the balance. As we discussed in the past, China must become key players in this and get involved for their own good. I heard yesterday that North Korea is planning another long range missile test. I will guarantee you it will be timed with the meeting to take place in South Korea in 2 weeks to decide how to react so as to throw more fuel on the fire.

After listening to Henry Kissinger with his 18 to 20 meetings in North Korea and his great insight who says North Korea may be imploding and collapsing you have to be very concerned. A collapsing Nation with an armed to the teeth 7 million man army! We have to worry about the future of South East Asia and the world.

We can not accept a nuclear mad man but we can't risk an all out war either. China is in just as bad if not a worse predicament. They are between a rock and a hard place. They either face North Korea at war and hundreds of thousands if not millions of refugees or a unified Korea with us at their door or worse both and more.

China is in a win lose situation and they better realize it and remedy this situation. They stop this and they win or they don't and they lose. Plus they do not want a scared maybe nuclear Japan. The Chinese Government must realize their situation is untenable. They must realize out interests are aligned in the absolute necessity of having a stable South East Asia.

China realizes they have a lot at stake here and must get actively involved. However I do not want to see them become our Global security partner. Nor do I see them anywhere capable of it any time soon. Russia would be nice but that is not likely to happen. The Chinese American relationship is getting more critical and tenable than ever.

We must also get Russia more deeply involved. It seems like I am saying that often these days. This is not only a new America but a new world. North Korean citizens have suffered tremendously for Kim's Cognac, electronic toys, extravagance, and nuclear program. I believe North Korea one way or the other as at the end game and getting increasingly desperate. We must all come together and act on this. We are all intertwined and interdependent. We are finding that this is a new world and it is a small world after all!

I use to think Musharraf was complicit with the Taliban. Gilani concerned me immensely when to me he capitulated and gave the Taliban safe haven in the Wali's Swat Valley. However, since the Taliban broke their treaty in short order showing they wanted the entire country by closing in on Islamabad to within 65 miles of the city. Pakistan realized the threat is to their very existence and they must be exterminated.

Pakistan in the past refused to enter the Swat, Waziristan area and that created this Taliban situation in the first place. I will always remember that the Wali said 3 years ago the Taliban could have been contained by two policemen. They have been allowed to grow to the point that they have been able to engage the Pakistan army since April. The Swat valley is now almost cleaned out of Taliban but I am sure those that have shaved off their beards and hidden under Burkha's will reemerge to raise hell later.

The Taliban is still skirmishing in pockets and there are two million displaced to feed and take care of. There has been 550 million pledged by UN countries to help do this. I do not know if this is why Gilani allowed the Taliban to become a danger making them appear forced to go into the Swat area. A region where they were not wanted. Was this all just a convenient coincidence? I don't think so. Anyway they will now be there permanently in the Swat Waziristan area or the Taliban will regroup and again endanger the people not just the Government of Pakistan. A democracy we know the Taliban does not want. Pakistan says that only 5 to 10% of their job in the Swat Waziristan area. I hate to be the one to tell them but like it or not this for them too is just starting and they will be there permanently. Forever more they will have to remain forever vigilant if they want there Democracy. They will succeed!

I have my suspicions about our original goal though. I do not get the idea that Karzai wants us there or as a matter of fact even wants a Democracy. A while ago listening to him being interviewed I felt an obvious contempt for us. It seemed like we were his enemy. I get the idea that the Taliban has a freer hand there than most realize. They must step up and do their share too but I am not convinced Karzai wants a Democracy in any form. I am however convinced Pakistan does!

What is happening in Asia and around the world better make what is happening in the United States right now with the childish Republicans badmouthing a very qualified nominee for the Supreme so they can hopefully have their way once again. They ultimately want to get back into power to impress their will and agenda started by Reagan and continued by the Bush's that was so destructive to us and the entire world. The world should be very concerned as to what they are saying and doing and are getting worse daily the more desperate they get.

Regardless of how you feel about Sotomayor I have to ask how did something that seems so perfect be made so artificially ugly? Their is no concern for truth coming from Republicans only a concern in keeping Sotomayor off the Supreme court and they will and are saying anything they have too. I do not get this! They seem to be going after our first Black President through attacking his Supreme Court nominee.

This is not good! Does anyone else see what is going on? The entire world better be concerned because these are the dirty underhanded tactics employed under Bush and they want to impress again on the world. They couldn't do it while he was running for President but they can now and are. They are saying Obama is a racist and you must be a racist to be part of his administration.

I can't stand this childishness! A female Puerto Rican Supreme Court nominee is getting a thousand more times attention and lunacy than a black man running for President. I do not get this or once again how they are getting away with this obvious underhanded childishness. Obama is now involved and forced to defend his pick for the Supreme Court.

I should no longer be surprised by the senseless lunacy spewed by Limbaugh, Gingrich, and Tancredo but I was stunned to hear Limbaugh the mouth liken nominating Sotomayor to nominating David Duke who as you know was in the kkk and Sotomayor is said to be in the Puerto Rican KKK. I am really stupefied as to Republican childish lying defaming lunacy and how they continue to get away with this crap!

Rove is even in on the lying once again! Rove quoted Sam Alito saying Alito worked with Sotomayor and amongst other things she was not too intelligent. That really sickens me. They never worked together. They worked in different courts. Them bastards they say this crap knowing it is a lie and they have a shit eating grin on their face. They just do not care if they speak the truth or not just following their Republican Fascist agenda. The entire world better be concerned because they want to impress it on the world once again.

Sotomayor better speak up before these scum damage her reality beyond any correction by speaking the truth. We must hear from Sotomayor mending her words. as Republicans have have made her words taken out of context take on a life of their own. Her words are being called a window to her Judicial soul. That is BS because those are her words taken out of context by those who ultimately want to go after Obama.

She has a large body of work. Over 425 cases with only 4 decisions overturned. Quite remarkable I would say and that should be the window to her soul. An analysis was done of Sotmayor's discrimination cases and she rarely sided with the plaintiff. That should be a window to her soul. Last confirmation ten Republicans voted against her. She should make those Senators her first visits and explain the statements in question. This is a good woman a good Judge. Her race and gender have been made the issue and only to go after Obama who they can not go against because of his popularity.

President Obama said Sotomayor would have restated her words and well she should now the sooner and the more often the better. She is up to the task. I would like to see her confront Gingrich and Tancredo. These attacks are not only childish lies they have become racist and sexist. themselves. Why would they be trying to keep the highest court in the land down to one woman? Going after Obama is the only reason. If she was a Republican she would be in already.

Republicans went after senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and they likened Nancy Pelosi to Pussy Galore in a stupid commercial to James Bond music the idiots were smart enough to pull but the damage is already done, hopefully to them! Now they are going after Sotomayor. With the childish antics they have only succeeded in alienating women and minorities. What ever happened to the Big tent party? They are more and more becoming the pup tent party and they must be doing it on purpose.

With Obama responding to Limbaugh's idiocy the Sotomayor issue has now hit the White House. and given the Republicans a stay of execution. Instead of joining the game Obama should have said point blank that Sotomayor is not a racist. He should be defending her not lending credence to her critics. Cornyn is right! What the Republican extremists are doing is pure idiocy, childish, wrong and better stop. It is only showing the country and the world how mean and lyingly destructive the Republican party continues to be. Nothing has changed.

You can not give Republicans any fuel for this destructive fire and the White House has. Cornyn was covering his backside with the large Hispanic population in Texas. That said he has done what Obama, Gibbs, and other Democrats for whatever reason has not done. Republicans are trying to get at Obama and to make Democrats waiver but they will not.

Republicans are only succeeding in alienating women and Hispanics. Newt, Tancredo, Limbaugh, they better dial it back. Pakistan 'fears destabilizing' US policies

I have to laugh! I hope you at the very least just looked at the titles of those links. I say often that when I set out to write a story by the time I research it,I most often learn something new and what I am going to discuss ends up taking a new course. This is no exception. I started to discuss the fact that Pakistan has done a hell of a job fighting the Taliban but...

I am very concerned with the destruction of the Swat valley. The land of the Wali! The Switzerland of Pakistan! There was not an issue three years ago with controlling the Taliban, two policemen could have done it. That sad there is an issue now. Pakistan has done a hell of a job cleaning out a problem they created in that they gave the Taliban a haven a safe place to gather.

Yesterday when I was gathering information I realized the US and Afghan army was succeeding in their efforts to contain the so called Taliban and the insurgency along the border. Meanwhile Pakistan has done a hell of a job squeezing them from their side. Of course at one time the concern was that insurgents from around the world were gathering in Pakistan to gather train and arm to cross the border and fight the US and Nato in Afghanistan.

Not due to our success in Afghanistan but because of Pakistan's success in cleaning up the Swat valley the Taliban were now leaving Afghanistan to head into Pakistan to help their Brother insurgents. That is a good sign of something that has not been mentioned. This is a sign that we are making headway. It is not a bad thing that the Taliban are going into Pakistan primarily because they realize they are up against it and are getting desperate.

The pincer move with the cooperation of Pakistan is working. The Taliban is getting desperate now in Pakistan and are now bring the fight to the bigger cities telling civilians they better abandon them. Batullah Masoud is said to have hundreds of martyrs with suicide belts ready when needed. Recently some of the insurgents killed in a firefight were wearing suicide vests and blew themselves up so I tend to believe this. Batullah must be killed and that will greatly quell the problem in Pakistan.

However this is just beginning! The added US troops have not caused insurgents to head to Pakistan as Pakistan thinks. Their success has brought them there. I believe they are up to the task of dealing with them. Whether it is done in Pakistan or Afghanistan does not matter. It has to be done period. I do not like that the Taliban are doing the Iraq thing and targeting civilian areas. We have seen it before.

Civilians are going to have to join this too. They have the power to nullify Al Qaeda and the Taliban! This is a guerilla war. Armies can do their fighting and win battles but to put this to an end it is going to take an all out concerted effort involving the entire population. Success is in their hands and will not come without them. Like Iraqi citizens those in Pakistan and Afghanistan must be mad to realize the so called insurgents want to kill them. They want to end their life, life as they know it.

At one point I thought this was going to go on for generations and I still think it will like it or not. However I do believe civilians in Pakistan and Afghanistan will have their life as they want it if they get involved and fight for it. Eternal Vigilance!

Republicans are between a rock and a hard place contesting Sotomayor!

I think Republicans have reason to be concerned with Sotomayor but despite what they say or her own word so they have no idea how she is going to rule as a Justice compared to as a Judge. She has not been an activist Judge. After looking at some thirty cases she is pretty even handed and comes down on every side of an issue as Obama does. I do think that as a Supreme court Justice she will be a thorn in Republican sides.

Though fair and square I see her as the down troddened equalizer. Average confirmation time is 73 days and Obama wants Sotomayor confirmed before the Senate goes on recess in August so she can be seated and up to snuff when the court resumes in October. I am beginning to think things are being moved to fast and wonder why because she will be confirmed so why.

Of course we are hearing all sorts of idiocy coming from Republicans. Sotomayor is being called a reverse racist whatever that is. Because of her finding against the white firemen in Connecticut At first smell the right would have believe that. However she deferred to the precedent set by the 2nd court as she should have.

Latinos absolutely love this as they finally feel they have representation. Republicans are in a tough, tough spot. They want to hang Sotomayor out to dry but they can't do that without alienating the Latino vote they need back in their camp if they are ever to be viable in this new America. Limbaugh the mouth calls her a reverse racist. She said her decisions affect the real world and thinks of people, business, and the Government when she makes them.

I see her concern for the people and business but have to wonder about that of Government. In what regard is she concerned? Upholding the constitution regardless of party or to benefit the Democratic view point? A former clerk to Clarence Thomas slammed Obama's decision. and Romney said he is very concerned. It is going to be tough to question her. This was a shrewd move by Obama.

Choosing her will bear big dividends for Obama and Democrats. Sotomayor represents the change that has come to America! It was wonderful to see a Black President on stage flanked by Sotomayor and a white Vice President. The new face of America I love it. Republicans of course do not. They do not want the change to come but I believe it will anyway. They better step out of the way!

Despite Republicans stupidly calling her a racist and an activist Judge Freedom Watch supports the choice calling Sotomayor a centrist as I too believe she is. Liberals also are concerned about her because they are not sure if she will uphold Roe v Wade. I believe has a thinking unbiased grown from the ground Latina Woman she will!

Pat Buchanan says she is prejudicial. She has dismissed herself in the past from passing judgment in certain cases because she is a Latino Woman. She is not prejudicial. She is extremely qualified as a Judge but I do have to wonder if she will be as even handed as a Supreme Court Justice. They historically go the other way as they now see themselves in a different role. I will leave it for you to ponder that one yourself!

Once the hearings start this is going to be very contentious. I am again stunned by the lunacy that comes from Republicans. They just never stop and seem to have a penchant for saying stupid things and making themselves look stupid. She was called a bully as a Judge by a coward who would not identify themselves. I hate that because if it was true you would identify yourself. You can bet it was a lie to harm her. Anonymous sources should not even be mentioned and the MSM bears scrutiny for playing their games.

Just how far will Republicans go? They say she is not smart enough! She has a temper! Makes you wonder how a Activist, racist, radical, prejudiced woman made it as far as to be nominated to the highest court in the land? I have to wonder if this fight is only one of the reasons Coleman is still fighting Franken to keep Democrats from having a filibuster proof majority? I see nothing stopping Sotomayor's confirmation unless the right does some great research and fabricates something I mean finds something that two confirmations have not found.

I hear she is on the fringe. Scott Wheeler said she disqualified herself. What about all those Republicans who have qualified her in the past? Remember, she was confirmed twice already once for GHW Bush and once for President Clinton. Scott Wheeler from www. GOPtrust.com says any Republican who votes for her will be outed to their constituents. Just what happened all of a sudden? I do not like this! Supposedly some Republican Senators adamantly oppose her nomination but no names were volunteered.

Pat Buchannon called her an affirmative action choice meaning that if Republicans did not confirm her they would be saying to minorities that no matter how hard you work no matter how much you sacrifice it will not be enough for us! Rush, Newt, Limbaugh, Cheney Buchannon, Huckabee, who is next? What lunacy is next? How far will they go?

North Korea now threatens a return to State of War! Now what? We don't need another war!

Seems like North Korea is going to decide for us what we are going to do. Why is PyongYang doing this to its people! We don't need this, North Korea's citizens don't need this. The world doesn't need this. Kim Jong Il is determined to drag us into another war. For what? The situation with North Korea is getting more critical by the moment. Speaking of that I just found out the US just our military alert level in South Korea. Security was increased along the border and surveillance planes are flying around the clock checking the air for suspicious particulates.

North Korea just seems like an annoyance when they continue to fire off short range missiles but they are a threat. If North Korea was on its own which we can not be sure of though we think China and Russia are not backing them on this one. I know Kim Jong Il is thought a mad man but we already discussed that Obama has got to act decisively here so North Korea is really playing with fire here or should I say missiles and nuclear weapons or what?

North Korea now says they are no longer bound by the armistice calling it null and void. This action is being dismissed as normal rhetoric for North Korea. This is not normal to me! This is not 1953, this is not 1973 this is not 2003. Times they are a changing. We have too much on our plate already! North Korea has a huge military. A million man active army that would only succeed in getting many of their own citizens killed along with a couple hundred thousand innocent South Korean citizens before any engagement came to an end.

With over 7 million active and reserve troops North Korea is an armed military camp threatening to move south. We better take this seriously. South Korea has 670,000 active military and 2.5 million reservists. We have 28,000 troops there and another 70,000 in Japan with tens of thousands in Hawaii and on the west coast but we don't need this.

North Korea is becoming more critical to the world by the minute. After South Korea sided with the US condemning North Korea they said they viewed it as an act of war whish is normal North Korean rhetoric to me. That said, South Korea saying they will start stopping and boarding North Korean ships to look for illicit weapons is not normal. That will serve to get this going like it or not.

Even China was caught off guard with the underground nuclear test and the ensuing rapidly developing move towards war. China and Russia better step up. This is not just another problem tying down the US. Think of the enormous implications! What can we do? This would be disaster for the US. That little piss ant.

Stakes are now enormous! China has to be a key partner in whatever happens here. We can not do this unilaterally. China does not seem to have the leverage they use to or I thought they had. They do have an abstract leverage! They should want to be key players here. They are our banker and we owe them trillions. Being North Korea's immediate neighbor they would be the recipient of hundreds of thousands of refugees if not more.

Boarding North Korea's ships will provoke North Korea to action. They consider that an act of war and that is not saber rattling. I do not see any forces North or South being repositioned but if North Korea acts we will have to protect South Korea and Japan. On top of our two wars we are in trouble in the middle east with events between Israel and the Palestinians not to speak of Iran and who knows who else.

I am afraid I can see why North Korea finds this the perfect time to push us. North Korea is now threatening to be a danger she did not appear to be the other day. The little destitute third world country is now front and center on the world stage. They are the center and it peeves me! More than 90 have joined the PSI (proliferation security initiative). Now that South Korea has and say they will board North Korean ships this is getting hairy. Sotomayor a good solid Political choice!

Obama makes nomination announcement for Supreme Court



You may remember that on 5/3 we discussed her nomination. We closed saying A brilliant fair minded President is going to make a brilliant fair minded liberal pick who will set the tone for years to come. I am psyched! Did I say that? There has been 115 Justices appointed in 220 some years. I fully expect Obama's appointment to be even among such an elitist field, exceptional.

I do believe Obama wants a female minority as I said but when all is said and done he will make sure he picks someone with the principles he so eloquently stated. Privacy, Justice, and equal opportunity for all! How about Sotomayor? She is more than qualified and Hispanics are due. A champion of Justice will be priority one, the Constitution and how it affects everyone period.

In closing Republicans will create an issue where there is none with the goal of rallying their base to divide and conquer the Democrats. Once again they will fail. It is a Conservative court and Obama will pick a Liberal with the goal of centering the court again. Gays and guns will continue to be an issue and once again Obama will make the right decision for the majority. However, Republicans are already busy trying to dig up dirt on every possible choice they think Obama may make. They are gearing up for a big fight. However it is waste of time as whoever Obama picks will be our latest Chief Justice.

She is now his nominee! She definitely has the common touch President Obama was looking for. She has had diabetes since a child, her Father died when she was only 9, she grew up in a Bronx project. She is a great historic choice. Got her Bachelors Degree at Princeton and graduated from Yale Law School, the first Puerto Rican Woman on the bench and the appeals Court.

A self made woman who has already been bipartisanly confirmed twice by the Senate. She was nominated to her Federal positions by both party's. She was nominated to the Bench by G.H.W. Bush and elevated to the Appeals Court by President Clinton. She will be confirmed but not on President Obama's schedule.

Republicans want time point out all the negatives and highlight them first. They will drag their feet to excite their base, raise money, and unite their party. Republicans will say her past is inspiring and fascinating but should not influence her decisions on the bench. They wonder if she is arguing a key case does she have what it takes to make the right decision. She does but they will not like it.

They wonder , How Liberal is She? I think very liberal! She is not a moderate but not a liberal firebrand. I think she is a great fit but for average Americans not Republicans. She will bring a different background, a different story, and transform the court in a meaningful way to average Americans and our version of America and not the Republican version.

Obama gave a hell of a speech as usual while nominating her. Stellar! She has already passed the confirmation test Bipartisanly twice. She reads like a book and sides were her idea of the down trodden. That is obvious and the Republicans do not have to point that out. However they will hopefully for their Political gain. Their aim is to raise funds and unite the party. Partisan confirmation hearings expected for Sotomayor

I say go Sotomayor go! Like Obama as far as keeping the constitution goes she will not disappoint. I was listening to her acceptance speech. She was humble to a fault but genuine. She is going to be great! I am impressed, her speech was phenomenal! She was as good as Obama. You can not find fault with what she said but the proof as they say is in the pudding!

I do not know if you noticed but we saw a picture of the new America on the stage. Our first Black President flanked by a whit Vice President and the first Hispanic female Supreme Court nominee. What a picture, the new face of America. They say she saved baseball. while siding with the players during the baseball strike. I do not know but it should tell you where her heart is. I would say that her siding with the city over cancelling the fireman's test because only white's would have gotten promotions not minorities speaks volumes.

I expect she will be a major asset to Democrats as she does have empathy. Empathy Republicans do not want affecting decisions. Forget it! She sides with the down trodden in my mind right or wrong. I like her as a pick but I am a right or wrong kind of guy and yes you should have empathy but in the end you must do the right thing. Uphold the law like it or not, do not interpret it for personal feelings or gain! I heard her described by a childhood friend and fellow Princeton Grad as very dedicated and scholarly, a lover of the law and Constitution but we will see!
