Muslims meet the anti mosque tea party movement



The ADL is the leading Jewish civil rights group in the U.S. and said in a statement Friday that it was "saddened" and "stunned" by Zakaria's decision to hand back his Award. Personally I was stunned by the Anti-Defamation League's stance! Columnist and TV host Fareed Zakaria has returned a First Amendment award and $10,000 stipend to the Anti-Defamation League in protest of the organization's opposition to a proposed mosque near ground zero.

The proposed mosque in New York has drawn opposition from half Governor Sarah Palin who should not even be a thought and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich who have called its proposed presence near the site of the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history inappropriate. Scary sources!

That said, I was taken aback when Last week, Abraham Foxman, director of the Anti-Defamation League, an organization created to fight religious intolerance, said the city "would be better served if an alternative location could be found. I happen to agree with that but because of extremists and nothing else but I guess the ADL of only against discrimination against Jews not anyone else.

Like it or not this is going to end up being a war against Islam because of the extremists Muslims and on the other side right here the extremist Republicans instigating for war against Islam. Italy, Switzerland, France, the fear of Muslims and their symbol is spreading across Europe but I am sick to see the idiots on the right and not just the tea baggers spreading that fear across America.

In Murfreesboro, Tenn., Republican candidates have denounced plans for a large Muslim center proposed near a subdivision, and hundreds of protesters turned out. In Temecula, Calif., members of a local Tea Party group took dogs and picket signs to Friday prayers at a mosque that is seeking to build a new worship center on a vacant lot nearby. In Sheboygan, Wis., a few Christian ministers led a noisy fight against a Muslim group that sought permission to open a mosque in a former health food store bought by a Muslim doctor. Christian Ministers what the hell?

In all of the recent conflicts, opponents have said their problem is Islam itself. They quote passages from the Koran and argue that even the most Americanized Muslim secretly wants to replace the Constitution with Islamic Sharia law. I hope I am right when I say that is asinine! It’s one thing to oppose a mosque because traffic might increase but it’s different when you say these mosques are going to be nurturing terrorist bombers, that Islam is invading, that civilization is being undermined by Muslims. I think we are smart enough to monitor the situation as we already are.

Knowing that Religion is the Government in Islam there is something to what a woman said when she said Islam is not about a religion. It’s a political government, and it’s 100 percent against our Constitution. That is the countries of Islam to me not not Muslim Americans. I believe largely they are Americans and just want to practice their religion. There are about 1,900 mosques in the United States and I am sure we are watching them all and I hate to say it but we must. Protests Against Mosques Spread Far Beyond Ground Zero

German's, Jews, Japanese, Catholics, Irish, we have all paid our dues here in America's melting pot and Muslim's are just taking there turn. It should be up to the Muslim community how this turns out in America not Republican's, the tea party, or fools that think Sharia law is going to subvert our Constitution.

Good grief. I was going to say that we haven't seen so much as one Islamic candidate being run for a federal office, but after reading Jo's comment I'll add something. This is turning out to be the 1950s all over again but instead of communist incert muslim. And remember what happened with Joe McCarthy another republican fool.

Hi Jo! It has nothing to do with political correctness. Yes they attacked us on 9/11 but there is a trillion fold more than that including the fact that we were not undeserved and we knew they intended to do it and did nothing.

Anyway all I was saying here is that in a nutshell religious extremists are on both sides of this wanting to fight and peacwe loving citizens on both sides are stuck in the middle.

Fight we must and fight we will! Three of my sons are career military and in the thick of this. I tell them to relax because they are in it for the long haul. One is EOD and has 9 years left. He plans on going to Afghanistan as a civilian contractor commanding combat troops.

Jo I was looking at your comment about the mosque. That is my big problem and why I am disappointed with Obama's irresponsible decision.

I wrote about it on the 7th but this is what I said in closing:
Consider the nature of the beast we are against. We hear the thought that this is not a war against Islam but whether we want it or not it is. We are not against all Islam as we are a melting pot of all religions and lack there of as we are a melting pot of all races and creeds. Again with all that said the only consideration here should be the so called terrorists who are waging unholy war with us forcing us to fight them and we will.


* With all said and done that Mosque should not be allowed to be built 2 blocks from ground zero not because it insults the aggrieved or that it is too close but it would be another big laugh by Islamists at us and an in your face "see we won" a laugh and rallying call to further sacrifice their lives to kill the infidels.I can see that mosque as a pilgrimage site for all those who want to go there to pray just so they can say they did it at ground zero. Ground Zero is as important to extremists as it is to us only for the opposite reason. I don't like it what do you think?

Demeur you're funny but you are right. This is McCarthyism on steroids. You know how deep this issue is but sadly most people do not and are swayed by the idiocy and the fear mongering. I was looking at the ad against the mosque and it shows it as being as high as the towers with their emblem carved in it.

Well, you know by now what a liberal I am, but I am against the mosque being built at ground zero... it's an insensitive 'in-your-face' insult. And, I can't believe Obama weighed in on this. He should have remained silent.

On the other hand, Obama has stayed silent on the Net Neutrality issue between Google and Verizon while he campaigned on it... what the hell is the matter with him!?!

Meanwhile back at the ranch we have candidates publicly saying we should round up all these here Mooselems.
Marg Baker running is the great state of confusion Florida, suggest we do just that. Cause that's how she remembers her youth. If she's elected I quit.
Freedom of Religion,it's what in the Constitution. For now.

I believe in equality and freedom of religion but do feel we have to not i9mprison but watch all Muslims because the religion rules not common sense or love of America!

He Karen! Pardon me but the man has no balls. I believe in religious equality but am dead against that learning center. Believe it or not there is a mosque there already and it was built 40 years ago. you don't hear anything about that.

I have no problem with quiet negotiations with the Muslim organization who wants to build their Islamic Center near "Ground Zero" to try and relocate their building, however the time for quiet negotiation is long since past because now angry and hate-filled mobs and right-wing opportunists have made it an issue of political power and intolerance. The 1st Amendment ("Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.") and the 14th Amendment ("No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.") of our Constitution IS the only issue and the President is correct to uphold those Rights. I saw Charles Krauthammer's column on the need for the people to amend the Equal Rights clause under the Constitution (he advocated that we should control what is built in our neighborhoods based on community standards and sensitivities) and thought "Oh, how the worm turns..." When the Supreme Court knocked down Chicago's gun law regulating the purchase of firearms, Mr. Krauthammer and friends were quick to agree that "No means NO" under our Constitution. I will absolutely stand on the side of those who have the right to build their Center of Islam where every other religious body has the right to build there....this is an issue of intolerance and prejudice that has brought out the most inflammatory rhetoric and actions throughout our Nation...it wasn't the NY Muslim group that did this (destroy the World Trade Center and thousands of lives on 9/11/01), it was intolerance and hate, and to give into intolerance and hate, and we would be hypocrites violating our most important Rights to give into this. Most of the first Europeans to come to America were fleeing religious intolerance...we cannot allow religious intolerance to supercede our basic Constitutional Rights.

Thank you for your post. One thing that they fail to understand is that we will stand by and let them sabre rattle, even tell us that they plan to overthrow our country and turn America into an Islamic state. Little do they realize that their filthy religion is so anti world anti truth anti everything we stand for that the famous words uttered by a Japanese leader long ago will fail to give them a clue for what would be in store for them. If they would have just stayed home and stayed quiet they could live in their own filth. Luke the pigs they so despise. Islam is a disease it is a sickness and if they try to take us down to their level centuries in reverse, they will inflame our Passion for freedom and the sleeping giant they have so underestimated will rise and eradicate the surge of their vile hate filled so called religion who's own founding profit slept with the pigs they hate wo much. We must not allow their sickness and filth invade our psyche our schools our way of life. You attacked us you try to change us you are sadly mistaken that we will sit by and let you infect us with your disease of islam. Keep it up, push us to the point that you wake the sleeping giant, an American who is defending his freedom and liberty is the most dangerous enemy the disease that is Islam will ever know. We could've lived in peace and harmony, but I see a great war of good (Christians & Jews) vs evil (Islam, communists, Nazis) and good shall be victorious. They started it but will be only found in history books and we can be a world free of their filthy disgusting disease. Just thinking about them I have to shower to get it off of me.
